Eric Carle! Eric Carle was born in Syracuse, New York, 1929. However, he moved to Germany when he was six, grew up there, and graduated from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste (The Academy of the Forming Arts) in Stuttgart. In 1952 he moved back to America in New York with a portfolio of his work and $40 dollars in his pocket.
His first book was 1, 2, 3 to the Zoo , and soon after that he wrote his most famous book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

My favorite picture I took! Weeelllp, I chose/like this picture because of the way the trees all seem to make a certain motion and take up the whole image. They're called umbrella trees because they're branchless except for at the top, making them look like umbrellas, hence...umbrella trees. ANYWHOO! I was in Italy when I took this picture, and I love Italy, so it also holds a kind of sentimental quality to it too...

Wild Secret Girl

I chose Wild Secret Girl as my favorite piece because of my childhood. It spoke to me because when I was little I was absolutely obsessed with unicorns, fairytales, magic, but mostly the idea of a unicorn-pegasus. After seeing the movie Fantasia a million and one times, and reading every book on Hercules, I fell in love with the idea of a mix between a unicorn and a pegasus. A horse with one single horn on it’s head, and white feathery wings.
When I saw Wild Secret Girl, I knew I liked it. But after a couple times of going back to it again and again, I chose it as my favorite. I admired how Bright named the piece Wild, but had the horse bound and blind. I also admired how she called it Secret because of the fact that the horse was bound and blindfolded. Horses are such beautiful creatures by themselves, and I think this piece captures just that- the beauty and mystery of horses. And also their free, wild nature, as she shows that even though the horse is blindfolded and bound, it is still running.

I chose a man standing out of the magazine because he had no real shape, and I thought it would be interesting if no one knew what it was that the shape was. But once I cut it out, I thought it was neat that you could tell what it was by just looking at it. I think the triangles add a sort of thinking, or shouting look that makes this guy seem like he's doing that action.
